Highest Carded Round - Explained

For pools with the Highest Carded Round cut option, all cut golfers will get whatever the highest carded round is from a golfer that actually completes round 3. Same for round 4. These scores will then be added to the actual posted score from rounds 1 and 2 to form the golfers total score.

Cut golfers R3 and R4 scores will show as even par until at least 1 golfer finishes round 3 and round 4. Their scores will fluctuate (get higher) as the highest carded round changes for Round 3 and Round 4.

Pool Administrators have several options for how to handle cut golfers. Please reach your pool admin if you think a different setting should be used for handling Cut golfers.

NOTE - your cut golfers setting also applies any golfer that doesn't finish all 4 rounds, for any reason, including WITHDRAWN golfers, MDF, DQ, etc.

Highest Carded Round Example from the 2019 Masters Tournament

Let's look at the 2019 Masters as an example, using Stewart Cink as our Golfer.

  • Stewart records scores of 76 & 72 for rounds 1 & 2.

  • He is then given the highest carded score for R3 (76 from Charles Howell III)

  • His R4 Score will be the highest score recorded for that round. (80 from J.B. Holmes)

The end result for Stewart Cink in the 2019 Masters using the "highest carded round" option for players that miss the cut would be as follows:

  • Round 1 - 76 (+4)
  • Round 2 - 72 (E)
  • Round 3 - 76 (+4)
  • Round 4 - 80 (+8)
  • Tournament Total: 304 (+16)

*Note:  When using Option 2 (Cut Golfers Get 80) that miss the cut, withdraw, or do not. In this case, Stewarts scores would be as follows:

  • Round 1 - 76 (+4)
  • Round 2 - 72 (E)
  • Round 3 - 80 (+8)
  • Round 4 - 80 (+8)
  • Tournament Total: 308 (+20)
